Three New Twists on Knitting Fingerless Gloves: 

We’re going to use a pattern which works them FLAT and SIDE-TO-SIDE, as well as knitting both mittens at the same time!


XXS (XS, S, M, L, XL, XXL)

Techniques covered:

  • Magic Loop
  • provisional cast-on
  • backwards loop cast-on
  • German Short Rows
  • Kitchener Stitch

Supply list for class:

  • purchase, download and print a copy of pattern: On The Other Side Mittens by Kate Atherley

  • DK wt yarn, 1 skein is enough for all sizes

Quantity by mitten size: 100m (110m, 120m, 140m, 155m, 170m, 190m)

  • 40” circular needle, US 6 (4 mm) or size to obtain Gauge:  22 sts and 32 rows = 4 inches

(you need needles with a good flexible cord for Magic Loop),

  • small crochet hook to match needle (3mm)
  • stitch markers: locking and regular
  • your usual notions: scissors, bent tip tapestry needle, measuring tape

Homework:   Knit a swatch, this time Row gauge is more important that sts per inch
